Celebrating Women in Construction Week at the ABC Connecticut Breakfast
March 2026

In recognition of Women in Construction Week, Construx Co. was proud to have team member Sarah Flaxington attend the 6th annual ABC Connecticut Women in Construction Breakfast on March 6. The event brought together 270 ABC Connecticut members and industry partners, making it the largest gathering in the event’s history.

The morning celebrated the growing impact of women across the construction industry while creating space for connection, mentorship, and shared experiences among professionals from across the state. The energy in the room reflected the strength and momentum of women shaping the future of construction.

The event opened with remarks from Chris Fryxell, President of ABC Connecticut, who also recognized an important milestone for the organization — ABC Connecticut’s 50th anniversary. The celebration highlighted five decades of supporting contractors, advancing workforce development, and strengthening the construction community.

A highlight of the morning was the keynote address from Jennifer Rizzotti, President of the Connecticut Sun. Rizzotti spoke about her leadership journey, reflecting on how her career began when she stepped into a coaching role at just 25 years old. Drawing on her experiences, she emphasized the importance of leading with strong values, including integrity, accountability, and character. Her perspective offered an inspiring reminder of how leadership can evolve through dedication, resilience, and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

Events like the Women in Construction Breakfast reinforce the importance of celebrating the achievements of women in the industry while continuing to build pathways for the next generation of leaders. As Women’s History Month continues throughout March, Construx Co. is proud to support initiatives that recognize the contributions of women in construction and help strengthen the future of the industry.
